Surf Lifesaving Sport offers a wide range of event disciplines and competitions to members to enjoy socialising and have fun with friends and family. Whether it's in the swimming pool competing in a wide range of pool rescue events, in our large crafts being surf boats, IRB's and canoes to our Juniors doing surf swimming and body boarding, we have something for everyone to try and enjoy.

Senior Events

Our Senior Events are for our Lifeguards to compete in. The events are; Beach Sprints, Beach Flags, Beach Relays, 2km Beach Run, 2km Beach Relay, Rescue Tube Rescue Race, Ski Races, Paddle Board Race, Iron Man race, Cameron Relay, Diamond Relay. We also compete in the Senior Pool Interclub and Pool Champs which take place in the Pool and in the Winter.

Junior Carnivals

Our Junior carnivals are for ages 7-13. The events for Juniors are; Beach Sprints, Beach flags, Beach Relays, Run Wade Run, Surf race, Body Board race and Board race. To compete in the Surf race and the Board Race, the junior must have their 200m badge. We also compete in the Junior Pool Interclub and Junior Pool Champs which take place in the Pool and in the Winter. We compete in various locations on the Capital Coast. Lyall Bay, Worser Bay, Paekakariki, Riversdale, Otaki and Foxton.

The 2022 Central Regional Championships will be held over three days this season. (7th, 8th & 9th January 2022)

The Central Region Championships also doubles as the second round of the New Zealand Surf Boat Series.

Central Region - Tangimoana Cup - IRB Long Haul

Central Region is proud to announce the return of the Tangimoana Cup, the Central region’s IRB long haul race. In its inaugural year Paekakariki SLG took out the top honors. Will they take home the cup two years in a row?

Crews will begin outside the Foxton SLSC, heading north towards Himatangi beach and onward to Tangimoana. Once there and having completed challenges along the way, will return back to Foxton.

All teams will consist of an IRB with 3 crewmembers and 1 support vehicle (4WD), IRB team members must all be refreshed and hold a current Crewpersons award.

Entries will close on the 26th of July @ 1200. There will be a maximum number of entries, set at 24 Crews. Cost is $100 per crew (includes post-event food).
